Thanks for joining the blog for another week. If you have been reading these post since the beginning you may notice that this post has been reposted. Well, I only started a month ago and my writing was still green. You will notice that this is my very first post. But, it is not in a way. I have learned a lot more while re-studying in order to bring you each post each day.
That is the testimony to the quality of the 8 textbooks - I have been studying daily for 7 years and it never ceases to learn. Even the author was known to read his own textbooks for learning everyday. When it comes to learning the quality of our father, the depth of the material is also dependent on our growth which will never cease even unto death.
But don't fret, I'm not just merely reposting, I am also rewriting and adding richer meaning based on one of 8 textbooks. I will go through each of these post all the way up till yesterday with a deeper understanding and relay them and hopefully with better grammar and less editing mistakes. So, continue to stay with me and we'll have a good time see the world in a deeper way, and thanks for joining the Divine Principle another day!
How do we find happiness? Is finding happiness possible?
I think everyone in the world yearns for happiness from the very rich, poor, mildly handsome to the beautiful. People feel happy when they fulfill their desires. So, someone who may be hooked on drugs, when they finally obtain their fix, we can say they have found happiness. Or a married man secretly lusting after the girl at work, when he finally takes her to a hotel, he will have found happiness.
With just these two examples, we see how one can find happiness. We in fact see many of our fellow brothers and sisters who have led this path. Why does this type of happiness seem to bring destruction to all involved?
When one pursues such desires that do not end in justice for everyone including their spouses, this leads to misfortune. So we shall ask again:
How can we find true happiness?
Struggle of Mind and Body
Whether we know it or not you and I and the other billions of souls were created with an original mind. This mind is aware of evil desires and repels our evil desires and thoughts, and strives to follow the good. So when we pursue evil desires our original good mind leads us toward good activities, and will cause our conscience to feel agony or guilt.
In this day and age, which mind are we mostly following in humanity? The original godly mind or our evil sinful mind which we inherited from the fall?
No matter how religious one person is, there is a struggle between this good mind and this evil mind. Similar to the small devil and angel on either shoulder, every human as been endowed with this struggle within each of us. We sense every time we have to fight negative thoughts and resentments.
This tragic situation of our body also explains why religious people even St. Paul, who had said his mind follows goodness, but his body desires evil, have a sort of internal battle between their mind and body.
This struggle is within every person: the original and evil mind engaged in a fierce battle striving for two very different purposes. Anyone with this self-contradiction is doomed to perish. This is why saints whipped their bodies into submission, left the outside world and hid in caves and sanctuaries to become masters over their bodies and become able to reach beyond the limits of being a slave to sin.
That was great for the religious in the past who have set a foundation for us, but an Almighty Being is not going to settle for eternity that His children continue to struggle in this way for another million years.
So, yes, cars, houses, money, temporary love, drugs... it DOES bring happiness, but the happiness we receive from it never last for this one reason. This is the main ingredient we are missing in our pursuits to EVERLASTING true happiness.
God gave us religion as a tool to teach us how to go toward the original mind more and subdue our fallen desires, but even that was not meant to be our situation as God's children forever. God does not want to reach his children through a go between for ever. God was never meant to be a religion or a belief.
True happiness will be obtained when individuals, families, society and the world finally stop this internal battle where conflict resides on all levels. Once we have individually conquered our evil mind through religion, we will live by God's standards absolutely as a true individual.
Then the money, cars, houses, celebrity will finally be a plus, and it will not the main reason for happiness as it is today. Just as the monks in the past who had to take away material and marriage to subdue their evil desires, God did not intend that limited life forever. He has endowed us with the three great blessings to his children which we lost when Adam and Eve did not follow God's words, God's path.
When we finally as a human race go toward God's direction and follow our original path, this is when the three great blessing will finally occur in the highest manner which God wishes for you and me to receive. For the first time on earth, we will substantially be able to mature, multiply the blessing and have dominion over the earth centered on God. This will not only bring us happiness, but it will be
So, another question is: substantially how will the battle be won over evil?
Christians and practically every major faith believe there is going to be a final battle when God's conqueror returns and saves us all called the Messiah at the Second Coming. But this is left for more specific posts.
