World Peace Bridge Links Nations

It might sound like something so futuristic and out of this world that it may seem like a dream.  It could be compared to what our ancestors thought of trains and other technologies when they were only ideas in the mind of the fanatical.  Do you think cavemen dreamed of one day having the ability to travel across land, too?

When you think of it in this way, we are the fruit of millions of years of men's dreams.  We are living in the age that was only a part of someone's imagination at one point.

Only a hundred years ago didn't they dream of getting around in planes?  They were just dreams, but our children today enjoy these luxuries and think nothing about them, tossing them aside with every new invention.

The same for generations after us. They will wonder why there was such a major fuss over planning a highway and a bridge that spans around the world  physically linking the nations together.

This means you won't need transport papers, or immigrations papers or or proof of citizenship etc. when you want to go to Spain or Germany.

You will be a global citizen.

Doesn't that already exist on the Internet?  You can freely visit someone in Japan right now with a simple click and communicate.  You can see how they spend their day, you can write to them, they can show you their village without the need for any documents.  The only block is language.

Even the most closed country North Korea has allowed cameras in for the first time giving us a view of their way of life.  Each day we are getting closer and closer to living on a global level.  The ultimate goal is we want to have one global village.  Isn't that happening now?  People are learning a global language so they can freely go around the world.  Wouldn't they want to communicate with the locals when they travel to another country?

International Peace Bridge

The idea of the Peace Bridge would not be any different from any of the other technological advances in the past that had seemed impossible at one time.

Think about the Panama Canal.

That was a huge development for its timem and over 20, 000 workers lost their lives!  The dream to link the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean making a shortcut for ships.   This venture began in the 1880s and finished in the 1940s.  What kind of technology did they have - it was very limited.  Why is a bridge highway around the world impossible?  Takes a considerable amount of money?  The need for all nations to get along and work together for this effort?

It is indeed possible!

The Bering Strait is the place where the barrier of time, space, history and ideology are revealed most dramatically. The goal of the global Peace Bridge project is to build a bridge or a tunnel linking the gap of space and time, to lay a world highway running from London to New York, from the Cape of Good Hope to Santiago.

Eventually, a highway around the world aims to remove the barrier of race, culture, religion, and nations by letting this obstructed way flow and to bring peace to the world.

The Bering Strait Project can be rephrased as an elimination of all the barriers such as the spatial disconnection of national borders, and chronological disconnection of today and tomorrow, and thus, stepping forward to peace and prosperity for all earth and mankind.

Why World Bridge is Needed

The Bering Strait is a seaway between Cape Prince of Wales of the United States and Cape Dezhnev of Russia.  It is a gate between the Pacific Ocean and Arctic Ocean.

The Bering Strait Project has the following significances in that it attempts to connect two continents at both ends of the strait.

First, it is an enormous challenge and a historical event showing the human spirit of challenge and the dream for the future society.

It brings the message that mankind should be prepared for the future world of harmony and connection rather than of separation and disjunction. This project will be a new attempt for the future society.

Second, this kind of a large scale project requires mutual efforts of not only America and Russia, but also all the people and nations, no matter who they are. Through the process, mankind can cooperate and communicate with each other better.

Third, with two continents connected and transportation routes completed, exploitation of natural resources at Alaska and Siberia will be accelerated and thus, today's concerns on natural resources crisis could be alleviated. The Bering Strait Project is not only for physical connection but also contribution to the peace and prosperity of the world.

Bering Strait Construction Begins

Just over 100 years ago, our ancestors dreamed about highways connecting cities and small towns.  They travelled on muddy and flooded roads just until the 20th century.  These farmlands and rough terrains were traveled by the aid of horses and buggies exclusively and took months to get from New York to California.  They wished in the early 1900s for a better road system and faster transportation.

Now, we dream of being connected to not just our own cities and states, but to other countries spanning across the ocean. This International Peace King Bridge would not disrupt  the natural surroundings.  It would only link the world together.

The divisions of East and West and countries is only a mental illusion.

A planned link between Siberia and Alaska providing oil, natural gas, electricity, and railroad passengers to the the United States from Russia.

The plan includes provisions to build a 64-mile road and electrified high-speed rail tunnel under the Bering Strait which, if completed, would become the longest tunnel in the world. The tunnel would be part of a railway joining the capital of the Russian Yakutia republic in the Russian far east, with the western coast of Alaska.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin approved a plan to build a railroad to the Bering Strait area, as a part of the development plan to run until 2030. The more than 60-mile tunnel would run under the Bering Strait between Chukotka, in the Russian far east, and Alaska.

A cost estimate was US$66 billion. The plan involves creating a 3,700-mile route through Siberia to facilitate economic ties to the USA. A pipeline would be created to transport natural gas and oil from Siberia.

Linking Russia and America

Dr. Vladimir Petrovsky, President, Russian National Peace Council states:

"To move forward on the project, we need a new vision of global governance and a much higher level of international cooperation, involving the United Nations, international financial institutions, regional cooperative bodies, private businesses, and NGOs."

Petrovsky also stated that the last Russian Emperor Tsar Nicholas II approved a plan for a tunnel under the Bering Strait back in 1905, 38 years after his grandfather sold Alaska to America for US$7.2 million.

"The UPF founder knows that this goal is achievable. After all, nations spend billions of dollars for wars and national rivalry. Now we have to learn how to come together to make large-scale peace projects."

"(The term)'Peace Bridges' have to turn from metaphors to reality. It is for us now to make a step forward."

The Peace Bridge has commenced to the next level last year in 2011.  It is taking the effort of several entities to bring forth this technological feat, but we will one day see the fruit of the labor.  It will be a necessary venture if we ever dream of World Peace being possible.  A dream one day of no longer being blocked by borders, and truly living out God's ideal dream of a world of peace filled with brothers and sisters of one global family.
